robertaltman > One of the giant guitars in Plant owner Michael Indelicato's collection. There's a fine movie about Michael out there called "Guitar Man."

robertaltman > Jim Marshall and Robert Altman

Of Jim..."Before ringing the doorbell, make sure a Last Will & Testament is on file somewhere. After all, this was the man who attended (the original) Woodstock Festival with a .380 Walther PPK in his belt. Who battled with Hunter S. Thompson over controlled substances.

This is the man that Dennis Hopper claims to have based his character on in Apocalypse Now. And being one of Jim's friends never made interaction with him any easier. Tenure means nothing to Marshall.

Legends abound that Marshall is a dangerous lunatic, but most people who believe that have tried to cheat him. His friends take a different view: Marshall is grossly unpredictable, fabulously silly, unbelievably opinionated, completely charming, and thoroughly maddening.

Mercifully, he always seems able to laugh at himself."
robertaltman > Jim Marshall and Robert greet guests. “Jim Marshall- the only photographer granted backstage access at the Beatles' last concert, and the only person ever to squeeze Janis Joplin and Grace Slick into a single frame.”
robertaltman > Jim's been a brother shooter through the years... an older brother and has done more in my behalf than I can ever repay. I'd take the bullet for the guy... well maybe a bee bee... from a thousand yards.
robertaltman > North Beach legend Annie will come to your table and take a Polaroid keepsake... I wonder if she knows Polaroid will cease manufacturing instant prints?
